These last weeks have been amazing speaking in terms of weather here in southern Sweden. It’s been super sunny and quite hot, too. Because of this (and work, as always) I haven’t gotten around to do so much beading, but at least I made this bracelet which I have decided to use as my contribution in a competition at a Swedish bead store.

The weather makes me want to make jewelry with vibrant colors, so I decided to go for a quite monochrome green-blue color sheme. I made the base of the bracelet with larimar blue dyed agate and african turquoise, and then I used turquoise delicas and matte black seed beads for the embellishments. The closure is alittle bit different. I used tube-shaped afrcian turquoise beads at each of the ends of the base to create an opening, to which I attached antiqued brass chain with a lobster clasp.

The bracelet is for sale in my Etsy store here.

I also have some other exciting news! I was very lucky and got picked to be in Rings & Things’ Design Challenge this month! Yay! The challenge is sheet metal bracelet blanks and I’m very excited. I’m not very experienced in the metalworking field so this is great opportunity for me to broaden my views. Hopefully, there will be enough blanks so that I can share the joy with you guys by holding a giveaway!

Margie and Me Reveal

Ok, so it’s finally Saturday and I get to show you my Margie and Me piece for May!

I really liked the “Girl with Pearl Earring”-palette so I just had to go for that one!

I’ve been doing so many bracelets latey, so I decided to do a necklace this time. To create the pendant, I used an agate coin together with blue onyx round and opaque pear and matte black seed beads. Then I combined the pendant with antiqued brass chain, and added some large dyed agate rondelles to make the chain a little bit more fun.

I also made a pair of earrings to match. They’re very simple, just the agate rondelles with the bead caps and then the hooks.

Sorry for the bad picture quality – my camera and I could not seem to agree today!

Don’t forget to visit La Bella Joya to read more about the Margie and Me challenges, and to see the other participants’ creations!

First of all, I’m so sorry for not posting as often as I would have liked. I just seem to get more and more stuff to do at work, which of course has an impact on my beading time as well as my creativity, but the latter seems to have sorted itself out – at least for now. I’ve been working on my Margie and Me piece, but the reveal day isn’t until saturday. Fortunately, I made something else, too.

The Archipelago necklace was created for a competition at a Swedish bead store. The challenge was to create a piece of jewelry inspired by the sun, the wind and the ocean. As I read about the challenge, I immediately came to think of my family’s summer house in the archipelago of Blekinge, in south-eastern Sweden. I spent all of my summers there as a child, and I still have to go every year to really get that summery feeling. It really is one of my favouritest places in the world.

I wanted to capture the feeling of the sea and the wind, and the sunwarm stone in my necklace.

I worked with dyed frosted agate, blue onyx, and bohdi beads (they’re made from seeds!) together with seed beads (of course!) and created this pendant. I added a semi-heavy antiqued brass chain, with a few bohdi beads for a little softer finish.

I don’t really think that I am going to win, but I’m still very happy with how it came out. Hope you guys like it too!

Medallions bracelet

Yesterday I finsihed my latest project. Once again, it’s a bracelet. Haha. Well, at least I’m planning to make a necklace for this month’s Margie and Me challenge (please visit La Bella Joya for more info).

Ok, so back to the bracelet. It is quite dark with all the burgundy going on there, but I think the Soochoo jade lightens it up a bit. I was quite selective with the jade to make sure I got a color combo I was happy with. The bezels are made with peyote and a variety of embellishing stitches. I used antiqued bronze colored chain and a lobster clasp to finish the bracelet, so the length is adjustable.

I put the bracelet in my Etsy store here.

Thanks for stopping by!

This necklace has a color scheme that isn’t really my style, but I think the colors actually add to the “old” feeling it has to it.

Coco Chenille

The latest issue of Beadwork Magazine featured a project called Coco Chenille by Nancy Cain which I just had to try! It is made with emebellished tubular netting, and was really fast and fun to do! In fact, I had to make two bracelets which came out quite differently. This was my first try at netting, and I think it is a stitch I will return to.
