Moonlight Lariat

I’ve had the donut used in this necklace lying around for a while, and I thought it would look good in a lariat-style necklace. I made a bail with peyote-stitched 15/0 hex-cut opaque black japanese seed beads. Blue mother of pearl beads and kiwi jasper cubes were strung with matte black and metallic grey-blue 8/0′s for the “ropes”.

Here is a pic of the whole necklace;

The season makes me want to work with juicy, vibrant colors, so I went  for a fuchsia/pink/purple color sheme and added in ivory as the base color. It’s very girly.. The necklace was made with a number of stitches including RAW, peyote, tubular herringbone and picot. I couldn’t resist putting some faceted light yellow 6mm CZ beads in the bands.. This necklace could work with the turquise “Coco Chenille” bracelet I made a few weeks ago. The rope was made with cubic and cylindric matte opaque black beads (size 1.5mm and 10/0, respectively).

The focal has Swarovskis, delicas, cube beads and gold-plated beads. The neck detail (pictured below) has a gold vermeil bird.

So, I have been beading lately, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to take pictures until now because I kept forgetting to buy batteries for my camera.

First off are two bracelets I’ve made. They were both made with right angle weave. I had to use the beads I had in my stash so the color schemes aren’t perfect in  my opinion. If there is one thing I’ve definitely learned as a beadwever, it’s to plan my shopping, and to buy more beads than I think I will need. No more 5 grams of this color and 50 pieces of this bead…

This one looks a little bit antique, I guess it is because of the dark colors. I finished it with a Swarovski button. Not too happy with the closure though.

Below is the second bracelet. I’m not too happy with this one, but I had some bugle beads and I wanted to try this style so it was a good test run.
